TEK-PAK's transformation towards Industry 4.0 through the automation and digitalization of key business processes

Tasks performed in the project:
Automation of waste removal process
- Installation of an under-ceiling dust extraction system for the hall, which will transport cardboard waste to containers while shredding it.
- The system will include all die-cutting lines, improving waste management processes.
Automation of the final stage of the production line
- Implementation of an automated device that will reduce manual labor. Operators will be moved to tasks related to production preparation, retooling, and intralogistics.
- The device will enable complete preparation of the finished product, its palletizing, and automatic piece counting.
Digitalization of production and warehouse management processes
- Purchase and implementation of dedicated software and necessary infrastructure (servers, tablets, sensors, Wi-Fi network).
- Improving resource management, ongoing control of production processes, and reducing the number of manual operations.
Digitalization of the design process
- Implementation of CAD/CAM software integrated with a laser plotter.
- System adaptation for TEK-PAK needs by adding a technical data sheet, enabling the saving of product technical parameters in DXF format.
- Integration with the plotter program, which will streamline the process of cutting patterns and finished products.
Target audiences
They encompass employees and the entire organization, as well as customers. Employees and the company will benefit from the improvement of internal processes, while customers will experience benefits through shorter order fulfillment times, better prototype management, and the implementation of a new product range that meets their needs.
Project goal:
The planned activities will allow TEK-PAK to significantly optimize processes, increase efficiency, and improve market competitiveness.
Project effects and results:
- Shortening order completion times:
- Repeat orders: from 10-12 days to 5-7 days
- New orders: from 21 days to 10-12 days
- Improving order fulfillment timeliness:
- Currently: 60-70% orders completed on time
- Planned improvement through process optimization
- Energy saving:
- Shorter production time
- Higher line efficiency
- Energy usage optimization
- Increasing machine efficiency:
- Thanks to the automation of waste removal, the projected savings per machine are approximately 18%
- Reduction in waste paper collection frequency
- From current 1-2 times a day to 3 times a week
- Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) improvement:
- Projected increase in machine utilization of 20–25% over the next three years
- Expanding the product range to include new items (stands):
- Expected revenue growth of approximately 2%
- Introducing niche products will increase the company's competitiveness
